My sister wanted to surprise her friend-colleague for her birthday. We've been talking about it since last year, I think. I'm quite please with how the figurine turned out. Love the hair. Her boobs size were..ahem.. of course purposedly exaggerated.

Birthday girl was blushing. Mission accomplished!

Gumpaste figurine is so not my specialty, but sometimes I like a good challenge ;) And what a challenge it was! 1 week's notice for the figurines! And 3 of them at that!

White means Pure

I always love making an all-white cake. Love the classic look of the finished cake. This cake is done for my neighbour, Juju. Juju does dulang hantaran decor as a hobby-part time business. Kinda like what I'm doing with Sugar High Bakers. It's a paying hobby. ;)

What's purple and green and belong to the pre-historic age?

I didn't know the existence of Dibo the Gift Dragon until Masha requested for a Dibo cake for her girl, Umairah's 3rd birthday. My initial response was, "Dibo, amenda tu?" A check with my friend Rose confirmed that there was indeed a children's TV show with Dibo on it. Haha. So jakun!

Umairah loves Barney too, so I gathered the whole gang and printed the edible image for be put on top of the chocolate fudge cake covered with chocolate ganache. Colourful fondant stars are scattered around for the boom effect.

Under the sea..

Digging up my old collection of cake photos, I came across this one - one I made in the "Cartoon Character Cake" class over at Bake With Yen. I was an amature in the class, everybodyelse has had somekind of a background in cake decorating. This was way back in May 2008, when I knew nothing about buttercream, and icings, or even baking 101! Before Wilton ;)

I would be the first to admit that I'm not one of those natural born baker. I'm the kind who will always screw up the recipe, the one who is stubborn enough to try a recipe a few times more, before throwing the bad recipes in the bin. The one who will try many, many recipes unil she finds a good one! I just pity my sisters who had to eat the experiments, especially those chocolate based ones. Bleargh!

In this class we learnt how to draw a cartoon character so they won't look distorted, or in plain Malay ~ cacat! Can you guess which cartoon character this is?

This is a surprise for my dear cousin Aiza for her wedding day. The topper are quilt embossed, and the hearts are embossed with floral pattern.

The Ben10 Fan

Azura was throwing a Ben10 themed party for her boy, Ryan. So she commissioned me for the cake, and Rose of Mammamea Icings for the cupcakes. The cake was Lime Cheesecake with Poppy Seeds, covered with grey tinted fondant and topped with a Ben10 fan gumpaste figurine.

Can Nadine come out to play?

Linda wanted a garden-themed cake to go with this ultra adorable clothes-line she made, for her baby shower. So I suggested we do a grass covered cake, with little flowers and butterflies scattered around. On the cake sides are baby-themed motifs - pink strollers, pink rattles, pink milk bottles, rubber duckies... guess what the gender of the baby is? :p

For the love of baking

I have a confession to make - I don't eat chocolate. And to say that I don't like the taste of it, is an understatement. But for the love of baking, I have learnt to control my sense of smell while baking this yummy (I've been told) Chocolate Fudge Cake with walnuts. Now, I actually love baking anything chocolate. This cake mix has taken many form, in its original form like in this photo, cupcakes, birthday cakes, and also kek hantaran.
